Wellington - April 15

7:20am Briefing to take place
7:35am Warm-up
7:45am Marshalling into groups by your wave number
8:00am 1st Waves start! (Note: there could be more than 1 wave starting at each interval)

Location: Wellington

Venue: Cog Park, Evans Bay Parade

Distance: Run/Walk 3.5km - Bike 10km - Run/Walk 1.5km

Registration/Goodie Bag Pick Up/Bike Drop Off - Saturday 14 April 2012 - 12 noon - 4:00pm

  • Registration is in the main tent at the venue.
  • Registration is the process during which you pick up your goodie bag and receive all the information you need for event day.
  • If this is your first entry to the 2012 series, you will receive a complimentary REAL t-shirt.
  • You will also rack your bike in transition so allow some time to familiarise yourself with the layout of the bike compound and the run and bike entry and exit points.
  • We'll have a team of volunteers to help you and we have professional security looking after the bikes over night.

Parking: 

There will be LIMITED PARKING on Evans Bay Parade on Sunday, please do not park where there is no parking signage.

There will be limited public parking available at the Evans Bay Marina, follow the REAL Duathlon parking signs.

We will also have Traffic Management Restrictions in place on the cycle course from 6am – 10am so there will be no access to this part of Evans Bay Parade during these times.

Please use alternative routes to get to Cog Park on Sunday morning and allow plenty of time.

Pre-Race Briefing and Marshalling Point

The event starts at 8am. We would like all participants to be ready for the briefing and warm-up at 7:20AM. Therefore we would be happy if you arrive at the venue at around 6:45-7:00am so we can organise you all with the briefing, a warm-up and then marshal you into waves for the start.

Times are as follows:

  • 7:20am Briefing to take place
  • 7:35am Warm-up
  • 7:45am Marshalling into groups by your wave number
  • 8:00am 1st Waves start! (Note: there could be more than 1 wave starting at each interval) 

 

Run/Walk 1 - 3.5km

 Leave the Start and proceed north along the footpath on Evans Bay Parade to the turn around point near Balaena Bay.

Return to transition in Cog Park following the same footpath.

Please be mindful of runners / walkers approaching from the opposite direction.

 

 Transition – Run/Walk to Bike

Once you enter the transition area look for the colour of your row and you will find your transition spot. Look for the bike exit sign.

Please don’t mount your bike until you get to the mount line.

 

Bike Course - 10km (2 laps of 5km)

Mount your bike and follow Evans Bay Parade to the turn around point before Oriental Parade.

Complete a U Turn and return back to the turn around point near Transition.

Complete another Lap

Return back to the transition area in Cog Park on the same route.
 

Transition - Bike to Run/Walk

You will be asked to dismount your bike on the roadway as you enter Cog Park.

Cones and barriers will direct you into the transition. Look for the colour of your row and you will find your transition spot.

 

Run/Walk 2 – 1.5km

Exit the transition heading South to the turn around point before Cobham Drive.

Return to the Finish Line in Cog Park following the same footpath.

Please be mindful of runners / walkers approaching from the opposite direction.

Return to the finish line in Cog Park following the same footpath. You will come into the finishing chute where you will complete you 5km event!
